Miamisburg High School Reviews

I went to Miamisburg in elementry School and in high school, and i have never been happier there. They have amazing teachers and great students.

I went to Miamisburg and my child does now. It is one of the best schools in the area. A+

Needs a lot of improvement. Students who struggle are left behind. Focus is on students who do well on their own. Too much emphasis on sports, not enough on what really matters. Testing is 'drilled' before required tests are taken, instead of incorporated into curriculum. Great experiences with the school district until high school.

My daughter attended 1-1/2 years at Miamisburg High School. Although there are some really good teachers there, they are few in number. Most of the time, the focus seems to be on getting the kids through testing.

Miamisburg High School is a great school full of loving teachers, competent principles and guidance counselors and tons of opportunity. No matter what the student aspires to be in life-- at MHS and after, every teacher and staff member is there behind them. The academics AND athletics are absolutely superior in quality. Right now our men's baseball team is in contention for the state title. Our color guard is one of the world's best, our golf team is a state leader, our swimming team is top-notch, our cheerleaders won the national AND state titles with all of other sports (tennis, football, basketball, etc.) being great as well. The school is quite modern and despite some recent capacity issues, MHS is coping very well. The amount of classes offered is astronomical and so is the number of extracurriculars. I am not writing this as a parent. I, along with 1600 students know MHS best.

The quality of the academic programs was superb. There are a large number of music, art, and sports activities to be involved in. The parent involvement is obvious because of the PTO.

Great academic program, particularly in foreign language, mathematics & sciences. Guidance counselling is very competent (kudos to Mrs Sweetnich!). My child landed a full ride thanks to her! Athletics needs improvement, lots of talented kids get frustrated with the politics and end up quitting. A change in A/D will help turn the school's program around. Unfortunately, administration & the school board seem to be unaware of this.

School has been growing in number of students and a new high school is needed. Have weighted courses and have AP classes. Have a very strong World Color Guard and Band program. Also have high school class A guard. Have full complement of boys and girls sports programs but football is king. I would have liked for the academic courses to have the same level of expectation and degree of advancement as they have for their football team. The state scores are in the low 90's with over 82% of their seniors passing all tests. Teachers work hard to get students prepared for standard tests. Over all I am satisfied have been involved at all levels with from elementary to high school and advocate for new high school and technical circumlum.

As a recent student of Miamisburg High School, I have seen what the school is truly like on the inside. Every teacher is concerned about the student and willing to go the extra mile. The academic program is outstanding with many students doing very well on standardized testing. The faculty is constantly challenging the students to do their best. The only problem with Miamisburg High School is that we do not have a strong parental support of both the faculty and students in general - too many parents see Teachers as babysitters. The only thing holding Miamisburg HS back from being exceptional is a strong parental support.

The quality of the Miamisburg City School system has deteriorated. The teachers, counselors and admistration are non responsive to parental involvement. Outcome based type teaching is not working.

The school district only wants to deal with parents who have money and are able to spend every free minute 'volunteering' for them. Most of the teachers, guidance counselors, and administrative personnel only want to deal with the 'model' student. If there is a student who has a problem, they, at first, act like they're interested, but in the long run all they want to do is get rid of 'the problem' (even when the parent is very much involved). A school district should be concerned about all of their students, not just the one's they want.
